NFL Draft Info - Carolina Panthers
Though we're still over two months until the NFL draft there are numerous questions and rumors that look to shape how the Panthers approach the draft. So we have an understanding here is how the Panthers draft picks currently look:
1st round (traded to San Francisco for 2009 2nd round and 4th round picks)
2nd round
3rd round
4th round
5th round (traded to Kansas City for DT Tank Tyler in 2009)
6th round
6th round (traded to Cleveland for DT Louis Leonard in 2009)
7th round
7th round (traded to Green Bay for LS JJ Jansen in 2009)
From this we can see that the Panthers' draft looks fairly limited at this time, however, the waters get muddied greatly when looking at all the possible scenarios going through the rumor mills at the moment. Here are the top three rumors circulating:
- Julius Peppers will be traded for a 1st round pick
- The Panthers may not match a long term offer for QB Matt Moore, which would net them a 1st and 3rd round pick.
- Numerous teams have inquired about Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams... either of who would net at least a 1st round pick and something.
Granted rumors are rumors for a reason, but should the stars align in such a way the Panthers could be looking at the biggest draft in team history as they could end up with multiple 1st round selections after going into the 2010 calendar year without one.
