ALL-DADDY TEAM

NFL Football - ALL-DADDY Team

2009 ALL-DADDY TEAM

chrisjohnson

As a Fantasy Football owner you spend weeks in preparation, reading books, checking websites participating in mock drafts.  All of this to put together a team that you feel can project into the highest scoring team.  You see Michael Turner, LaDainian Tomlinson, Matt Forte picked in the first round, while you watch guys like Chris Johnson slide.

You have your strategy, you know who your sleepers are and you are prepared for success.  All of this preparation that will culminate in an intense hour of online smack talking, cheat sheet searching and busted strategy.  If you are lucky enough to have a local league you spend an entire night eating, drinking, talking, yelling, debating, mocking and doing your best to make other feel uncomfortable before and during the draft.

Week by Week you scan the waiver wire, you check the blogs, you ask Fantasy Daddy.  You do what you can to give your Fantasy Football team the best chance to win.  Making timely pick ups, offering and countering trades.  It’s a long season and here we are at the end of it, some of you will be hoisting a Trophy and others kicking themselves.

With that said I give you my ALL-DADDY Team, my list of top performers from the 2009 Fantasy Football season.

QB – Aaron Rodgers (Avg. draft position 35.5)

Rodgers made me proud producing as a top tier QB with a 3-4th round pick.  Throwing for over 4000 yards, on pace for over 30 passing TDs, over 300 yards rushing and 4 rushing TD’s.  Rodgers scored in double digits in every week this season with the exception of week 14.

HB – Chris Johnson (Avg. draft position 8)

Chris Johnson has had one of the greatest fantasy football seasons ever.  On the verge of 2000 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving, Johnson has single handedly won games for owners this season.  With the exception of the Houston game in week 2, CJ started off very slow waiting until week six to break double digits.  Since the week six game vs. the Patriots Johnson hasn’t looked back scoring double digits every week and six times breaking twenty points.  His performance reminds of us great season by the likes of Marhsall Faulk, Priest Holmes and LaDainian Tomlinson in his prime.

HB – Adrian Peterson (Avg. draft position 1.2)

As many fantasy football owners found out this year, a high first round pick doesn’t assure production.  Peterson did produce and produce consistently.  The addition of Favre may have hurt his fantasy value because of Favre’s love of the goal line audible and using the TE in around the goaline.  Peterson still produced, with the exception of week 13 vs. the Cardinals, AP scored at least nine points in every game.  His carries were down, but his catches and TDs are up.  Peterson was everything you SHOULD have expected.

WR - Andre Johnson (Avg. draft position 13.4)

Playing like a man possessed Andre has been as consistent as a stud running back for fantasy owners, while leading the league in targets, yards and WR fantasy points.  Outside of week one vs. the Jets Johnson hasn’t been held under six fantasy points, with nine double digit games and three games over twenty points.  Well worth the early second round pick, Andre has proven himself as the top receiver in fantasy football.

WR – Miles Austin (Avg. draft position 170)

The most impressive note on Miles Austin is that he didn’t get his first start until week five vs. the Chiefs.  On that day Austin now only broke Cowboys receiving records he lit up waiver wire boards across the country.  He didn’t stop there, scoring in double digits a total of eight times (out of ten games), getting in the end zone in eight of the ten games.  Outstanding!  Austin will not get the respect of a top tier receiver in 2010 drafts, but try to remember how amazing he has been and keep in mind with four more starts Austin would be the highest scoring WR in fantasy football.

TE – Antonio Gates (Average draft position 51.5)

To watch Antonio Gates play you would think it’s unfair.  With great speed, amazing hands, the ability to find a hole in the zone, post up a safety or linebacker Gates is poetry in motion.  A pillar at a position with tons of upcoming young starts, Gates is having an amazing season.  The touchdowns are down this season from years past but he is producing like a wide out in terms of yards and catches.  Antonio has provided fantasy owners with consistent scoring all year long and was rock solid down the stretch averaging just under 15 points per week over the last five weeks.  Simply the best!

Defense/ST – New Orleans Saints

Who dat?  Opportunistic doesn’t describe this team, with 26 interceptions, 15 forced fumbles and eight touchdowns the Saints came out of no where.  The team didn’t have a negative scoring game all season and scored in double digits eight weeks.

K – David Akers

Highest scoring kicker in the league.  Has made at least one field game in every game this season.  Woo Hoo!
