Fantasy Football: Target Practice: Week 9 Standings

NFL Football - Target Practice

bullseyeTarget Practice is a list of Fantasy Football players that had at least eight passes thrown their way in the past weeks games. A high number of targets does not always equal success, but at least you know who is receiving the most opportunities to be successful.

Hellllllluuuuuuuu Roy.  Roy Helu becomes the primary beneficiary of captain checkdown, John Beck .  Not only did he have the most targets this week, but he did it in style.  This is his first 8+ Target game, so he decided to double 8 targets, and add one extra just for fun.

Here are the rest of the double digit targets:

15 – Rob Gronkowski

13 – Brandon Lloyd

12 – Larry Fitzgerald, Vincent Jackson, Denarius Moore

11 – Steve Breaston, Antonio Brown, Victor Cruz, Brandon Marshall, Antonio Gates

10 -  Anquan Boldin, Dwayne Bowe, Jerome Simpson, Wes Welker

Here is the list of players with 3 RZ Targets: Jermichael Finley, Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski, Kellen Winslow, Dwayne Bowe, Andre Caldwell, Jerome Simpson, and Fred Jackson.

Quick observations.

Wes Welker is contuing his 8+ Target streak, despite the Patriots recent struggles, he's still the only WR with 8+ Targets in all of his games this season.

Roy Helu deserves another mention with 17 targets.  While the whole Redskin RB situation, continues to be a mess, the fact that he was targeted so many times is a good sign for Helu.  Most times, it takes an injury to someone on the depth chart (Tim Hightower) for a rookie to break out.  However, with Ryan Torain still lurking, it may take a change in head coach before we have a clear understanding of who the lead RB will be in Washington.

Torrey Smith eclipsed the 8+ Target game for the 3rd time this season, but with Lee Evans back soon, you may want to trade him before he starts regressing a little.

Despite his lack of solid fantasy production, Mike Williams (TB) is still lurking.  In 8 games, he has 7 8+ target games, yet he’s not even in the top 50 of WRS this year.  He’s a perplexing one, but he’s certainly a buy low candidate if he decides to turn it on the last half of the season.
