NFL Football - Starts and Sits
Week 12
The game of Quarterback musical chairs is down to 4 (Rodgers, Brees, Fitzpatrick, Alex Smith). Jay Cutler, Matt Cassel, and Matt Schaub are done for the year. Big Ben, Michael Vick, and Matt Hasselbeck are nursing injuries. So where do you go from here?
I polled 3 of the Fantasy Daddy writers to see how they felt the bottom of the QB barrel would rank for the rest of the season. If you are clamoring for a QB, start here:
- Christian Ponder – May not have great weapons and Adrian Peterson is down, but Ponder has serious upside and will continue to throw.
- Matt Leinart – It’s like being handed the keys to a Ferrari. There will be a lot of running for Arian Foster and Ben Tate, but Leinart will have to throw to keep defenses honest.
- Kyle Orton – If you haven’t heard, Kansas City plucked Orton off waivers. He could start this week since he does have a familiarity with their offense. Don’t start him this week at Pittsburgh, but he could get you through the playoffs.
- Caleb Hanie – 41% of his throws were to Matt Forte last year. He should be able to manage the game and could turn some heads like he did in last year’s NFC Championship game.
- Tyler Palko – Yikes. We really hope you are depending on Palko the rest of the year.
- Blaine Gabbert – The Jaguars are the holders of the league’s worst offense. Stay away.
Week 12 Starts
Matt Moore – This is crazy but daft, and Dallas gave up a ton of points to Rexy Sexy Grossman. He is worthy of starting in a 12 team league if you lost one of the QBs over the weekend.
Laurent Robinson – You can throw on Miami, and I think this game will actually be somewhat close.
Kevin Smith – He is your new toy, time to take him for a spin! The Packers will attempt to stop Matthew Stafford, and this will be a great game to watch. Unless you hate offense. Then you should watch soccer instead.
Eric Decker – He gets three deep balls a game, just one will make it worth it. Do you feel lucky?
Jerome Simpson- Even if AJ Green comes back he will get plenty of targets.
Nate Washington – Jake Locker sure likes him and that is good enough for me.
DeAngelo Williams – News Flash: The Colts run defense isn’t very good.
Jonathan Stewart – Did you know he is DeAngelo Williams’ teammate, except is involved in the passing game and the goal-line back?
Donald Brown – Delone Carter has done nothing with his opportunity, and Donald Brown knows it. This former first round pick has done a little less dancing at the line and more running down the field. He is worth a shot if you are down a stud.
Pierre Garcon – Do you love French names? This is probably the last time I’ll recommend him this year, so get him in the lineup!
Ben Tate – Matt Leinhart’s nickname is Checkdown Charlie. Arian Foster can’t get all of the touches.
Week 12 Sits
Reggie Bush – He has been good these last three games, but the TDs are most of it. Dallas will stop him.
Michael Crabtree – This 49er will be on my 2012 Watch List, but I think Baltimore will shut him down this week.
Ryan Mathews – Look at what the Denver defense has done in the last 5 games with Tebow at the helm. 4 gems and a clunker. The Denver D/ST is a sneaky play this week.
Toby Gerhart – Adrian Peterson is down and Gerhart will pick up the load. He will get the carries but won’t do as much as Atlanta has a decent run defense.
Greg Little – Good-up-and-coming talent here, but the Cincinnati defense is for real and Colt McCoy is going to have a hard time.
Fred Jackson – Jackson is hobbled and the Jets are against the wall. They are pretty good when up against the wall.
Maurice Jones-Drew – It’s a risky call, but Wade Phillips and the top defense will stack the box to make Blaine Gabbert beat them.
Sidney Rice – Washington can slow the top Wide Receiver.
Dwayne Bowe – Tyler Palko is going to have a long day in this one. Don’t play any Chief this week.
Week 11 Results
Good starts – Tim Tebow, Jonathan Stewart, DeMarco Murray, Brandon Lloyd, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, New England D/ST
Bad Starts – Jason Hill, Denarius Moore, Mario Manningham
Good sits – Santonio Holmes, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Torain
