Fantasy Football Week 10: Pick Up Artist

NFL Football - Pick Up Artist

Roy_HeluQuarterbacks - Matt Whitefield

Carson Palmer (Raiders)                                                      Yahoo: 30%               ESPN: 24%

Palmer looked a lot better in his second game as Raider throwing for over 300 yards and 3 TDs. Don’t be concerned for Palmer and tendency to throw INTs, those likely will come down over time as he gets more acclimated to his WR corps. He has a solid matchup against week pass this week against San Diego and has 5 favorable matchups going forward. If your team is ravaged with injuries at QB or if you’re just looking for a spark, Palmer is a solid pickup.

Christian Ponder (Vikings)                                                  Yahoo: 16%               ESPN: 11%

Though we have only seen a small sample size of Ponder (vs Carolina and vs Packers) he has put up respectable numbers and gets the Packers again on Monday night. Packers pass defense is ranked 27th and just gave up another 300 yard performance to Philip Rivers. I like Ponder to perform well this week, and some favorable matchups for the rest of the season. As long as teams put 7 and 8 in the box against AP you gotta expect Ponder chances going forward.

Editors Note - Mark Sanchez - He has a very favroable schedule down the stretch, if you don't have a solid backup, stash him.

Running Backs - Matt Whitfield

Roy Helu (Redskins)                                                             Yahoo: 34%               ESPN: 17%

Helu has had a very solid game Week 9, and the majority of his contribution came in the passing game instead of the running game. This rookie was targeted 17 times in the passing game, and recorded 14 catches for 105 yards. Helu is valuable for not only his ability to run the football, but he has also showed that he is dangerous in the passing game. Going forward, if he we know anything about Shanahan he rides the hot hand, and Helu proved he can be very effective in both pass and rush. I see him if given the chance to be in the mold of Ray Rice long term. I love this guy long term prospects!!

Ben Tate (Texans)                                                                 Yahoo: 56%              ESPN: 62%

Many of you who own Arian Foster have already handcuffed Ben Tate. For those that haven't, run, don't walk to the waiver wire and do that now. Tate is a more than capable back-up, and in fact, he is starting to warrant fantasy starts in deeper leagues with desperate owners just cashing in on Tate mop-up duty from Foster. Tate finished the day on Sunday with 115 rushing yards and a TD. This is his second 100+ rushing yard performance in his last 3 games, so as you can see, Tate's mop-up duty hasn't been all that bad.

Chris Ogbonnaya (Browns)                                                 Yahoo: 27%               ESPN: 16%

With Montario Hardesty and Peyton Hillis both injured and slated to miss time, Ogbonnaya is worth a look in fantasy. In Week 10 the Browns have a favorable matchup against the struggling St. Louis Rams, and this RB will likely see the bulk of the carries. Ogbonnaya will be available in a high percentage of leagues, so if you need to replace a tailback due to injury this player is worth picking up for at least one more week only to see if he can get it going,

Editors Note: Chris Ivory - I'm not comfortable with him as a long term option, but if Ingram can't get on the field, Ivory will be in play.

Wide Receivers - Steve Adler

Antonio Brown (Steelers)                                                     Yahoo: 69%               ESPN: 34%

If you have been with us since pre-season you know how much we have talked about Brown.  This is a no brainer, but if by some odd chance he is available in your league, you need to go get him!

Laurent Robinson (Cowboys)                                               Yahoo: 17%                ESPN 2%

With Miles Austin going down for another 2-4 weeks. In only 37 snaps, Robing had five targets, five catches, 32 yards, and a touchdown.  Robinson will be a solid flex play moving forward.

Vincent Brown (Chargers)                                                    Yahoo: 0%                  ESPN: 0%

Looks like Floyd is going to miss another week, which will leave Vincent Brown in the starting role.  Not a great play this week, but if you are in a deep league, he is a decent option.  Last week Brown in his first NFL start had six targets, four catches and 79 yards.

Denarious Moore (Raiders)                                                   Yahoo: 28%                ESPN: 27%

Jacoby Ford (Raiders)                                                             Yahoo: 22%                ESPN: 36%

Just when we thought DHB was going to be a solid flex play the rest of the way, this happens.  Heyward-Bey had only twenty snaps, had one target and no catches.  Moore and Ford got the lion's share and at this point are shaky plays, but if Palmer looks for these guys on Thursday in San Diego, all bets are off.  Stash them while you can.

Sleeper: Leonard Hankerson (Redskins)

Tight Ends - Steve Adler

Jake Ballard Yahoo: 35%                ESPN: 27%

With touchdowns in three of the last five games, Ballard is now a solid option in the Giants high powered offense. He's also averaging four catches and 69 yards a game over the last month.

Jacob Tamme Yahoo: 0%                ESPN 0%

Sounds like Dallas Clark may be done for the year, which means Tamme will get the nod.  I'm not a huge fan of Painter, but Tamme could be worth a pick up if you think Manning will ride in on a white horse and start a couple games for the winless Colts.

Side Note: Brent Celek - He has a great matchup this week, but goes up against NYG, NE, and SEA all three teams are in the top 10 in least points allowed to TEs.
