Fantasy football is a game of being pro active. Working your leagues waiver wire can make your team a force during the playoffs. As guys get banged up or winning teams rest starters, new fantasy studs emerge. You need to be ready to pounce on players that can have an impact.
With that I introduce you to Jeremy Self AKA “The Pick Up Artist”. Jeremy is here to help you look ahead and have an impact on your roster. Make sure you follow Jeremy on twitter.com/thefantasynerd and follow the site at twitter.com/FantasyDaddy.
Quarterbacks
Chris Redman-Redman stepped in for Matt Ryan last week and played well. He’s working with great receivers and will face a defense that just gave up big points to Jason Campbell. I wouldn’t count on Redman to score huge points for you, but he’s worth a look if you don’t have a good option this week.
Vince Young-His 387 yards in last week’s cardiac-inducing game was a career high and he seems to be gaining chemistry with Nate Washington and Kenny Britt. He faces a stingy, Colt’s pass defense this week and should be used with caution for that reason but his week 14 game versus Saint Louis makes him worth the pick-up.
Alex Smith-I hate to keep this guy on the list every week but he isn’t owned in many leagues and faces another terrible secondary in week 13 (Seattle). He is performing consistently and his receivers are making plays when given the chance. Don’t be afraid to play Smith again this week.
Running Backs
Larry Johnson-He may be owned in your league already, if not jump on him quickly. Even if Cedric Benson plays this week, Johnson will get enough carries against a horrendous run defense to justify a spot start.
Justin Forsett-I recommended him last week and he came through with flying colors. His matchup this week is much tougher, and Julius Jones may cut into his carries but he is clearly the best option at running back on the Seattle roster.
Danny Woodhead-I don’t recommend starting Woodhead this week unless you are absolutely out of options. He only makes this list because he received his first real game time last week and may get worked into the offense as the regular third down back. The Jets face two sub-par run defenses in weeks 13 and 14.
Wide Receiver
Donnie Avery-Avery was targeted by back-up quarterback Kyle Boller 11 times last week and he was able to capitalize. He finished the day with 48 yards and a touchdown against the inept Seahawk secondary and his next matchup against the Bears could produce similar results.
Robert Meachem-Meachem was outstanding against the Patriots on Monday night, consistently beating his man and giving Drew Brees a chance to get him the ball. He has scored a touchdown in 4 straight games and has a good chance of extending that streak against Washington in week 13.
Kenny Britt-The chemistry that has developed between Vince Young and Britt in the last 5 weeks is incredible. The Titans will need to throw often to keep up with the Colts in week 13 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Britt finish with a decent game. He has led Tennessee in targets each of the last 3 weeks and will continue that trend over the rest of 2009.

Tight End
Tony Scheffler-He’s playing better, Orton’s looking his way more often each week and it’s time for a breakout game from one of this season’s fantasy duds.
Honorable Mention-Fred Davis
