Fantasy Football Injury Report Week 12

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceThe 2011 NFL season has been marred by a huge number of injuries to big time Fantasy Stars. Week 11 continued on that trend with more top ballers headed for their respective infirmary or awaiting the news of their MRI. Guys have been dropping like flies, this one deep league I am in seems like everyone in the league has an average to bad team because of the amount of big players nursing injuries. Out of the 14 teams in my league only two teams scored over 100 fantasy points so far in week 11.

Adrian Peterson- Ankle- AP’s injury looked really bad on the replay and if he somehow ends up playing in week 12 you will have avoided a major blow to your fantasy team at such a crucial point in the season. There was speculation of an ankle sprain from the “high” variety and those type of injuries usually cost players multiple games. Peterson is a type of Clark Kent and it is possible that he will be ok but if you own him just keep your fingers crossed when he goes for his MRI. For what it is worth Peterson himself said he will play in week 12. Peterson's MRI revealed a high ankle sprain and "some" ligament damage. He will miss week 12 for sure with a chance that the injury keeps him sidelined past that date.

Jay Cutler-Thumb- This is a devastating injury to the club that has been playing great football and had a very soft schedule the rest of the way. It hasn’t been confirmed by the Bears themselves but rumors hit the twitter-sphere last night that Cutler’s thumb fracture was very bad and was going to cost him surgery and the rest of his year. Huge blow to fantasy owners and to the Bears chances of competing for a playoff spot. Caleb Hanie will get his shot in week 12. The Bear’s have confirmed that Cutler will in fact need surgery.

Fred Jackson- Calf- He left the Miami game early with what is being called a bruised calf. F-Jax says that he is “fine” but that he is also “very, very sore.” If Jackson is going to miss any time you can expect to see CJ Spiller thrown into an every down situation. The hope here is that Jackson will be able to heal after a few days this week but we won’t know more until they get out on the practice field this week.

James Starks- Knee- Starks was having a pretty good came until he “sprained” his knee against the Buccaneers on Sunday.  This poor guy can’t catch a break, first he has B.J Raji vulture a TD of his ala The Fridge Perry styles and then to make matters worse he leaves the game when he hurt his knee. There is a MRI pending and the packers are on a short week so Ryan Grant might have to carry the rush attack on his own during Thanksgiving.

Matt Hasselbeck- Elbow- Hasselbeck left early after spraining his elbow and one has to think that he may not be ready to go in week 12. The first round pick Jake Locker came in and threw 2 TD’s and looked very good in mop up duty. We will have to update Hasselbeck’s status this week when it becomes clear how bad his elbow strain actually is.

Greg Jennings- Shin- Jennings was a non-factor in the Packers game and he spent most of the 2nd half on the sidelines. He says he will be “Ok” and early signs point to him playing on turkey day  against the Lions.

Colt McCoy-Shoulder- McCoy was able to play through a shoulder injury against the Jaguars but he may need an MRI to make sure there isn’t some damage done to the passer’s throwing shoulder. Colt says he is fine but the Browns will want to make sure the kid is good to go for week 12. I will update his status when it becomes clear this week.
