The flood Gates have opened up once again on the injury front, week 10 saw many big fantasy names forced to the sidelines. There will be a few key names that most likely will miss games next week and fantasy owners will have to keep their eyes open during practice to see which guys have a chance at getting back out on the field. Keep your eyes on the prize and be sure to target the players who will step up if your fantasy star is forced to miss week 11.
Frank Gore- Ankle/knee- Gore rushed 6 times for 0 yards until he came to the sidelines and did not return against the Giants. He battled the ankle injury all week and then twisted his knee early in the Giants game. Gore said he expects to play next week but keep an eye on his status because duelling injuries could be problematic for Gore and Coach Harbaugh may want to rest his stud back without inflicting further damage. Consider him questionable at best for week 11 and wait to see how much he practices this week.
Matthew Stafford-Finger- Stafford apparently played through a fractured finger in their one sided loss to the Bears. It is a fracture on his throwing hand which may have played a part in Stafford’s erratic play on Sunday that led to 4 interceptions. He classifies his finger as “ok” and I doubt it will keep him out of the lineup next week.
AJ Green-Knee- The rookie jumped off to another big start scoring a TD in the first half before being forced to the sidelines with an ailment to his knee. The beat writers are calling it a hyper-extension and it is apparently not a major cause for concern. You will have to wait until the Bengals start practicing this week to see what type of shape Green is in.
Julio Jones- Hamstring- The other big rookie receiver also went down early with an injury and did not return. He tweaked the hamstring in practice this week only to re-injure it against the Saints. Hamstrings can take some time to heal and I think Jones might be on the sidelines next week. I will update his status when it becomes clearer.
Willis McGahee- Hamstring- Willis went down early with a hamstring injury and he wasn’t able to return. He said he could have played if it was an emergency but the Broncos play Thursday night and Hamstring snags can linger. I would not be overly confident with McGahee being ready for the Jets on Thursday.
Jeremy Maclin-Hamstring/shoulder- Maclin had a brutal game as did most of the Eagles, he only caught 2 balls for 6 yards. The shoulder injury appears to be minor but there is a cause for concern with his hamstring injury. Maclin himself didn’t appear confident when he was asked about his status for week 11. This will be a situation to monitor when the Eagles get back on the field this week during practice.
Sidney Rice- Head- It looks like Rice was victim to a mild concussion and he will have to pass a battery of tests before he will be cleared for football activities. Keep an eye out this week to see whether Rice will be able to suit up for next week’s game.
Knowshown Moreno- Knee- It looks as though Moreno just put the exclamation mark on his terrible season by suffering a significant knee injury. It was revealed today that Moreno will need season endning surgery. Feel free to drop him in all fantasy formats.
Matt Schaub- Foot- Coach Kubiak revealed at his pres conference Monday that Schaub is out indefinitely with a lisfranc injury. He will be out the next two weeks at a minumum so head to your waiver wire immediately and start planning for your next match up. According to Fabiano Schaub is done for the season, crushing news to the Texans and to Schaub owners.
Michael Vick- Ribs- Vick apparently broke 2 ribs on the 2nd play of the game on Sunday vs. the Cards. His status for week 11 is now uncertain at best. This is a situation to monitor when the Eagles get back on the practice field this week.
Matt Cassel-Hand- Coach Todd Haley revealed at his Monday presser that Cassel suffered a "significant" hand injury and he could be lost for the season. This is terrible news for the Chiefs as their unlucky season just took a turn for ridiculous. Wait for confirmation but it is safe to say he won't suit up in Week 11.
