Injury Report Week 8

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceHamstring Injuries are the new ankle sprain!  It could be a fluke but there are hamstring injuries every Sunday so far this season. It wasn’t a big week for Injuries which is a pleasant change and Fantasy owners can walk from their weekend battles basically unscathed. There were a few bumps , bruises and hamstrings so let’s break it down.

Hakeem Nicks- Hamstring- Nicks is set for a MRI on Monday but early indications are he is going to be alright, words like “cramp” are being thrown around to describe Nicks pain. Fantasy owners may have dodged a bullet this weekend with Nicks. I will update the results from Nicks MRI when the news breaks on Monday.  Tom Couglin called Nciks "Day to Day" at his Monday press conference with a "strained right hamstring".

Chris Wells-Knee- Our boy Beanie looked like he wouldn’t play for a game or two but he was back out there Sunday and statistically he looked fine. From a physical standpoint it looks like his wonky knee is going to be a problem for the remainder of the season. Let’s just hope he can play out the season, if you own him in fantasy it may be a good move shopping him this week.

Montario Hardesty- Calf- Hardesty came out early on Sunday with a calf injury and he is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. If he is going to miss extended time Chris Ogbonnaya will pick up his work load. Coach Shurmar revealed Monday That Hardesty has a "moderate" tear to his calf muscle and that "he is going to miss some games".

Ahmad Bradshaw- Foot- Bradshaw left the game in the 3rd quarter but he was able to finish out the game after he went for a precautionary X-ray. It looks like Bradshaw will be available to play in week 9 considering he was able to come back to the game in week 8. Keep an eye out on his practices this week.

Kevin Kolb- Turf Toe- The Kolb salad could have a case of turf toe. He definitely has a case of “I can’t get the rock to Fitz enough”  but turf toe can hinder the toughest of players so this could be problematic for Kolb. He was seen in a walking boot after the game against the Ravens.

Fred Davis- Ankle- Fred Davis was finally in the driver's seat for targets at the tight end spot in Washington but Coach Shannahan revealed Monday that Davis has a "Grade 1 ankle sprain". A Grade 1 sprain usually only requires a week or two to recover from but that will put him in line to miss some games.

Ryan Matthews- Groin- Matthews came out of the Monday night game in the 4th quarter after tweaking his groin. The Chargers are on a short week and "It is Feared" that Matthews won't be able to go this Sunday. Monitor his status this week but start looking for other options at running back.
