Week 7 Fantasy Football Injury Report

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceIf you’re a Fantasy owner that somehow managed to leave your Sunday match up without an injury; go buy yourself a lottery ticket. Most owners were not that lucky with the large number of guys that were injured on Sunday. The injury bug did not show any prejudice in that there are big names, little names, new injuries and re-aggravations. Let’s not forget about the MRI’s, there will be a couple of MRI’s on Monday we will be anxiously awaiting the results from before we send our squad off a cliff. There is a guy in my league who had Stafford, Run DMC & Earnest Graham, now maybe the 2 studs will play in their next games (maybe) but he took a loss in his fantasy match up to a guy that started Marion Barber and Matt Forte for his two RB positions and he had Vick on bye week so Kevin Kolb was out there for him at QB. This guy destroyed the heavy favorite opponent by 40 points, absolute destruction. It goes to show you how fragile your stacked team on paper truly is and that in a blink of an eye you can go from contender to pretender.

Darren McFadden- Sprained Foot- Run DMC injured himself after just 2 carries against the Chiefs on Sunday. There isn’t any word yet to the severity of his injury but he was on the sidelines for most of the game. The Raiders have a bye in week 8 so McFadden owners can cross their fingers and hope that he is full steam ahead when they come out of their bye.

Beanie Wells-Knee-  Good old Beanie got off to a good start against the Steelers until he came up lame. Wells left the game after he “sprained his knee” and did not return. He is scheduled for a MRI and we will have to wait and see if the injury is worse than its initial diagnosis. It is the same knee that he had surgically repaired in the past and one has to hope that the MRI comes back with minimal damage. Wells avoided major injury it looks like he will miss 1-2 weeks according to reports Monday afternoon. Wells is be called a "Game Time Decision" for Sunday's game.

Matt Stafford- Knee/Ankle- This could be the one that breaks the camel’s back. If Stafford misses any significant time you have to wonder if the Lions will have enough talent on their roster to keep the roar in store. All rhyming aside the Lions were mums on the severity of Stafford’s plural injuries and we won’t know anything until they release results from his MRI. The Lions are calling Stafford day to day for now. Stafford says the ankle hurts in a "weird spot". You may want to back your play with another option at QB. The Lions have a bye week next week and they may want to rest their franchise QB. Stafford has taken 1st team reps the last 2 days and looks like he should go tomorrow.

Tim Hightower- Knee- There are some mixed reports out there and Hightower himself didn’t think he tore his ACL but there is some strong support that Hightower did in fact destroy his knee and could be on the shelf for the remainder of the season. This is another situation to monitor and wait for the Monday MRI results to surface the Internet.

Santana Moss- Hand- Santana Moss is headed to the infirmary after breaking his left hand in Carolina. The initial report speculated that Moss will miss at least 3-4 weeks.

Earnest Graham- Achilles- Poor Graham, the 31 year old journey men blew his Achilles in jolly ol England and he will be shelved for the rest of the season. Feel free to drop him in all fantasy formats.

Willis McGahee- Hand-  McGahee was enjoying a resurgence this season but that has been put on hold with a fracture to his hand. There hasn’t been a report out yet that has put a timetable on his injury.  McGahee looks like he will miss 1-4 weeks according to reports that came out of Denver on Monday.

Mark Ingram- Heel- Mark Ingram was having a productive game on the Sunday night stage but he left in the 4th quarter with what is being called a bruised heel. He had x-rays that came back negative but Ingram wasn’t able to put much weight on it after the game. This injury could cost the rookie some game time so we will have to wait and see how much practice he is able to get in there this week. The Saints are calling Ingram "Day to day". Ingram has been ruled out for this week's game against the Rams..too bad.

Joseph Addai- Hamstring- Addai started the football game against the Saints but left early in the 1st quarter, hopefully Joe pulled himself for precautionary reasons and that he hasn’t sustained a major setback. This is a situation to monitor as the week progresses. Addai is listed as questionable and he might try to play this Sunday.

Percy Harvin- Ribs- Harvin may have shaken the migraines season but his performance on the field has led to major migraine issues for his Fantasy owners. Harvin left this game with an injury to his ribs and he wasn’t able to return.

Hines Ward- Ankle- Ward is becoming a non factor in Fantasy Football but he is in danger of missing this weeks game. This is noteworthy however because if he doesn't suit up you can look for Antonio Brown to exploit the New England secondary. Ward looks "unlikely" to go on Sunday.
