Injury Report Week 14

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceWeek 14 is in the books and like every other week this year in the NFL we have lost some fantasy stallions to a major injury. If you have made it this far in your fantasy league without a major injury you have been doing something right, or at least luck has been on your side. If you are playing fantasy football in week 15 let us hope you are not a owner of Greg Jennings or DeMarco Murray. They are the two big names that highlight our injury report in week 14.

Greg Jennings- Knee- The Packers moved to 13-0 but not without losing the services of their star wide out Jennings. He went down in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury and early unconfirmed rumblings are suggesting that the results weren’t good. Rumors are swirling that Jennings may have torn his ACL and his season could be lost. You will have to wait for reports to surface on Monday to the extent of his injury but initial thoughts are that you are going to have to move on without your stud receiver. It looks like Jennings is only going to miss 2-3 weeks and he is not lost for the season. This is great news for the Packers but not so great for fantasy owners as it is unlikely that he will return before week 17.

DeMarco Murray- Ankle- Murray came onto the scene early in the season when Felix Jones was on the sidelines but he has been lost for the season with a fracture in his ankle. This is a major blow to the Cowboys offense and to his fantasy owners. If you have some depth you might be able to replace him but chances are you will not be able to replace his production. Murray did his best Keyser Soze impression and like that… he was gone. Dynasty leaguers may want to hold onto the Cowboys back but other leagues can cut him loose during this week’s waivers.

Injury Report Week 13

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceJust when you thought it was safe to plug Mr. Andre Johnson back into your starting lineups the Texans star wide out comes up lame with another hamstring injury, this time it is his other hamstring so that can be viewed as good news I suppose. There were a few big names that hobbled off the field and if you are a Matt Forte owner and you are in the Fantasy playoffs you might be headed towards a first round loss.

Matt Forte- MCL- Forte only rushed 5 times and then exited in the first quarter on Sunday with damage to his right MCL. There are rumors of a slight tear to a sprain but either way it looks lIke Forte will be lost anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. If you own him hopefully you are deep at running back but no matter how deep you are you can’t replace Forte caliber production.

Andre Johnson- Hamstring- The Texans can’t catch a break this season and it is a damn shame because they are an exciting football club. Andre Johnson hobbled off the field in just his 2nd game back from injury and it looks like he tweaked his other hamstring this time. I feel for all of you AJ owners who spent a high draft pick on him because chances are your season has been one to forget with the amount of time AJ has missed and will continue to miss after his latest war wound.

Kevin Smith- Ankle- This kid is made of glass; although he was showing some grit trying to get back into the game ultimately he remained on the sidelines for the rest of their game against the Saints. He might have avoided a lengthy injury again but you will have to wait for the Lions to practice this week to get an idea if he will go in week 14.

Fantasy Football Injury Report Week 13

NFL Football - Injury Report

There were a few guys that went down with injury but nothing earth shattering or of real fantasy relevance. If you are still alive then you can breathe a sigh of relief because your roster will remain intact heading into week 13. If you are an Andre Johnson owner you were indirectly affected by Schaub and now Matt Leinart’s season ending injury. He is hard to bench but it is also hard to believe either QB will be able to get him th rock. It looks like the Texans will be rolling with a rookie at Quarter Back or journey man Sage Rosenfels unless the man who can’t be named decides to bring his circus act out of retirement.

Matt Leinart- Collarbone- Well his tenure as a starting QB lasted almost an entire half of football. Leinart went down with a broken collarbone and he will be done for the season leaving the Texans thin at QB but an 8-3 record.

Sidney Rice- Head- Rice had zero production in his game on Sunday and eventually left the game do to a concussion. The severity of the concussion hasn’t been revealed yet so you will have to wait for an update this week to get a timeframe on his injury.

Kevin Smith- Ankle- Smith had a solid game and a half before he pulled up lame in the 2nd quarter against the Packers. He has avoided the dreaded high ankle sprain and there is a chance he will be able to go in week 13. You will have to wait until the Lions hit the practice field.

Montario Hardesty- Calf- Hardesty appeared to be ready to finally play in week 12 but he aggravated his calf during warmups and he ending up being a late scratch from the tilt against the Bengals.

Troy Polamalu- Head- Polamalu landed on his head during a tackle on the Sunday night game and he never returned. Hopefully this is just precautionary but there is a chance that Polamalu suffered a concussion which might put his availability in week 13 questionable at best.

Fantasy Football Injury Report Week 12

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceThe 2011 NFL season has been marred by a huge number of injuries to big time Fantasy Stars. Week 11 continued on that trend with more top ballers headed for their respective infirmary or awaiting the news of their MRI. Guys have been dropping like flies, this one deep league I am in seems like everyone in the league has an average to bad team because of the amount of big players nursing injuries. Out of the 14 teams in my league only two teams scored over 100 fantasy points so far in week 11.

Adrian Peterson- Ankle- AP’s injury looked really bad on the replay and if he somehow ends up playing in week 12 you will have avoided a major blow to your fantasy team at such a crucial point in the season. There was speculation of an ankle sprain from the “high” variety and those type of injuries usually cost players multiple games. Peterson is a type of Clark Kent and it is possible that he will be ok but if you own him just keep your fingers crossed when he goes for his MRI. For what it is worth Peterson himself said he will play in week 12. Peterson's MRI revealed a high ankle sprain and "some" ligament damage. He will miss week 12 for sure with a chance that the injury keeps him sidelined past that date.

Jay Cutler-Thumb- This is a devastating injury to the club that has been playing great football and had a very soft schedule the rest of the way. It hasn’t been confirmed by the Bears themselves but rumors hit the twitter-sphere last night that Cutler’s thumb fracture was very bad and was going to cost him surgery and the rest of his year. Huge blow to fantasy owners and to the Bears chances of competing for a playoff spot. Caleb Hanie will get his shot in week 12. The Bear’s have confirmed that Cutler will in fact need surgery.

Fantasy Football Injury Updates Week 11

NFL Football - Injury Report

cartoon_ambulanceThe flood Gates have opened up once again on the injury front, week 10 saw many big fantasy names forced to the sidelines. There will be a few key names that most likely will miss games next week and fantasy owners will have to keep their eyes open during practice to see which guys have a chance at getting back out on the field. Keep your eyes on the prize and be sure to target the players who will step up if your fantasy star is forced to miss week 11.

Frank Gore- Ankle/knee- Gore rushed 6 times for 0 yards until he came to the sidelines and did not return against the Giants. He battled the ankle injury all week and then twisted his knee early in the Giants game. Gore said he expects to play next week but keep an eye on his status because duelling injuries could be problematic for Gore and Coach Harbaugh may want to rest his stud back without inflicting further damage. Consider him questionable at best for week 11 and wait to see how much he practices this week.

Matthew Stafford-Finger- Stafford apparently played through a fractured finger in their one sided loss to the Bears. It is a fracture on his throwing hand which may have played a part in Stafford’s erratic play on Sunday that led to 4 interceptions. He classifies his finger as “ok” and I doubt it will keep him out of the lineup next week.
