Week 9 and the midpoint of the season is here, and fantasy football owners know well by now what the strengths and weaknesses of their teams are. Still, there should still be opportunities out there to make deals to fill holes on rosters for those that can recognize opportunities to maximize a player's value or get a player whose value may have room for improvement.
Here is the Week 9 edition of "Buy And Sell" here at Fantasy Daddy.

Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys- Austin had just three receptions for 27 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, giving him just five catches for 43 yards over the last two games. He also has not scored since scoring three touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, though he did miss the next two games with a hamstring injury. If Austin is going to turn things around, Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks brings a good opportunity to do so. Seattle has allowed just over 22 fantasy points per game (ESPN scoring) to opposing wide receivers this season, including 66 receptions to the position over a four game stretch from Week 2-Week 5. Austin also had a fairly favorable slate of games over the rest of the season, with only Week 16's rematch with the Eagles standing out as difficult. Those looking for a wide receiver who may be ready to take off down the stretch can put Austin at or near the top of their list of trade targets.
Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego Chargers- Jackson had three catches for 49 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, and now has only seven receptions for 98 yards over the last three games. He has been battling a hamstring injury in recent weeks, but drawing the opposition's top cover corner and the erratic play of quarterback Philip Rivers has also hurt his production. Week 9 brings an opportunity to rebound against the Green Bay Packers, who have allowed at least one wide receiver touchdown in six out of seven games and they allowed over 200 receiving yards to the position in the one they did not allow a score. All the makings are there for a high-scoring contest at Lambeau Field this Sunday, and the Chargers are likely to have to throw the ball plenty. Fantasy owners who drafted Jackson expecting at least close to elite level production may begin to see results this week. He is simply too talented to be held down for much longer, as long as he is healthy.
Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams- Bradford has missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain after being injured late in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers, but reportedly has shed his walking boot and may be able to return to action this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. He is not slated to practice on Wednesday as or right now, but if he is able to get some work in later in the week optimism about his status for this week will surely rise. Even if he has to miss another week or more before returning, Bradford did pass for 328 yards against the Packers and newly acquired wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has made an immediate impact with 12 receptions over his two games with the team. The second-year man from Oklahoma may have been cut loose in many leagues upon being injured due to his fairly poor start to the season, but his fantasy value should only rise upon his return to action and he makes for at least a worthy roster stash while his status is in doubt.
Sell
Sidney Rice, WR, Seattle Seahawks- Rice had seven receptions (on 14 targets) for 102 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8, which was his second 100-yard game in five games played this season and 15 of his 24 receptions this season have come in those two contests. The Seahawks are likely to continue to have inconsistent quarterback play, be it from Tarvaris Jackson or Charlie Whitehurst, so Rice's production is likely to also be up and down on a weekly basis. Two of his next three matchups look favorable against the Dallas Cowboys (Week 9) and St. Louis Rams (Week 11), so his production could be good in those two games if the Seahawks have to throw the ball to move the chains. That said, there is just a good a chance he has poor games and his fantasy value declines a lot from here. Fantasy owners that have him on their roster may want to maximize his value by dangling him in trade talks to a wide receiver-needy team in their league as soon as possible. Be sure to talk up the favorable matchups he has coming.
Willis McGahee, RB, Denver Broncos- McGahee suffered a fracture in his right hand in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins, which causes him to miss Week 8 against the Detroit Lions. A report on Tuesday said he plans to play this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, which would be a surprisingly quick return to action since his injury required surgery and there has to be questions about how effective he can be. For a four game stretch prior to the Broncos' Week 6 bye, he had three 100-yard rushing games as he was clearly the team's primary ballcarrier. With Tim Tebow now under center for Denver and Knowshon Moreno running fairly effectively last week (14 carries for 69 yards), McGahee's role may decline whenever he is healthy enough to play. Those who benefitted from his production up to this point may want to strongly consider trading him while his value may still be fairly high. Assuming there is at least one owner desperate for a running back in your league and willing to take a chance on McGahee.
