Fantasy Football-Buy and Sell-Week 6

NFL Football - Buy/Sell

With bye weeks now upon us, and Week 6 the second of four straight weeks with six NFl teams having the week off, it's becoming important for fantasy football owners to continually bolster their roster depth with waiver wire additions and trades.

On that note, here is the Week 6 edition of "Buy And Sell" here at Fantasy Daddy.

Buy

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans- Johnson has had a disappointing start to the season, as he has averaged just three yards per carry with one game with more than 53 rushing yards and one total touchdown. The Titans' bye week may be coming at a good time this week in terms of building better cohesiveness in the running game, and Johnson also came out of last Sunday's game due to reported hamstring tightness. Head coach Mike Munchak has said the team will focus on fixing the running game during the bye week, which also bodes well for Johnson returning to his previous form. There could be a serious "buy low" opportunity here for fantasy owners that have a need at running back and can part with a player at another position.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Miami Dolphins- Marshall had five receptions for 52 yards in Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers, and he has a league-leading (heading into Week 5) six drops this season. The fact Chad Henne (shoulder) is out for the season and Matt Moore is slated to be the Dolphins' starting quarterback now does not make Marshall's prospects for good production all that good going forward. That said, it's not like Miami has a lot of wide receiver talent and he should see plenty of targets as part of what is looking to be a very bad team. In Week 6 he will see plenty of New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, but Marshall has the size and strength to overcome that matchup and be reasonably productive. If you're in a league with an owner who is ready to cut bait with Marshall, the lowered expectations he now has could create a buying opportunity.

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos- Moreno is certainly toward the top of the list of "fantasy football busts" to this point in the 2011 season, as he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1 and has just six total touches in two weeks since returning to action.  Willis McGahee has emerged as the Broncos' No.1 tailback right now, but Moreno did have a receiving touchdown against the San Diego Chargers in Week 5. The fact he caught the pass from newly named starting quarterback Tim Tebow and the fact Denver may now have a more run-oriented offense may create room for Moreno to see more action going forward. It can also be considered an open question how long McGahee can hold up with a heavy workload, so he could also see increased work if McGahee is injured at any point. It would not be surprising that most fantasy owners who drafted him have already dropped Moreno, but his value really has nowhere to go but up.

Sell

Eric Decker, WR, Denver Broncos- Decker became a fantasy football sensation from Week 2-Week 4, with 17 receptions (on 31 targets) for 217 yards and four touchdowns over that span. But he came back to Earth last week against the San Diego Chargers, as he had two catches for minus-four yards in the game. With Tim Tebow slated to take over as the Broncos' starting quarterback after their Week 6 bye, it is unlikely Decker's production will go back to it's early season level.  Quite simply, Denver's offense may be much more conservative with Tebow at the helm, and his overall lack of accuracy as a passer hurts anyone who is a prominent part of the passing game. The time may have already passed to sell high on the former Minnesota Golden Gopher, but those that still can get  a good return in a trade should do so soon.

Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans Saints- Sproles had 91 offensive yards (51 rushing) on 16 total touches (11 carries) against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, but did not score for the second straight week after scoring in each of the season's first three games. The Saints are employing a dreaded RBBC and Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas both found the end zone last week. Sproles is still likely to see a fair amount of touches as the season goes along, but his value in standard scoring leagues may never be higher than it is right now. PPR league owners may want to hang onto him, but owners in all formats that have holes elsewhere on their roster can't be blamed for dangling Sproles in trade talks.

Pierre Garcon, WR, Indianapolis Colts- Garcon had five receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5, giving him 271 yards and four touchdowns over the last two games with Curtis Painter starting under center for the Colts. Over the last three games he has 13 catches for 353 yards and he has been targeted 26 times over that span. Week 6 brings a tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, who have the league's third-ranked pass defense, so a third straight big game could be hard to come by. In any case, it is unrealistic for fantasy owners to expect another two touchdown game this week. Garcon is one of the quintessential "sell high" candidates in all of fantasy football right now, as it is also a question if Painter can keep up his solid play as more tape gets out on him.
