Good, Bad & The Ugly

NFL Football - Football

good-bad-and-uglyTim Tebow and his Denver Broncos get their own honorary member status for the “Good” section in week 13. Once again Tim Tebow and his fellow Broncos marched into a hostile environment and came out with a 4th quarter comeback victory. They now are tied for first place in their division and have won 5 games in a row.  The flip side to the Broncos coin of relevance is the Raiders and their performance today wins a honorary shout out for the “Bad” section. Raider nation walked into Miami and all they have to show for it is an embarrassing loss at the hands of the now surging Dolphins.  The Raiders have to play the still perfect Packers next week and then they get the Lions the following week. If they are not careful they will be 7-7 before they can spell out the word “choke” and that is worth a dose of soon to be “Ugly”.

Good

Cam Newton- Newton was in BEAST mode against the hapless Bucs breaking the single season QB rushing record with 3 more TD’s giving him 13 on the season.  It was a feast of 40 burgers for Newton owners across fantasy football nation, he finished the day with 258 yards of offense with 4 TD’s (3 rushing) a 27 yard reception and 40 fantasy points.

Shonn Greene- The Jets mounted a 4th quarter comeback win and Greene had his most productive game of the fantasy season. Greene broke the plain 3 times to go along with 114 yards of offense with 3 receptions and 31 fantasy points.

Rob Gronkowski- The Gronk continued his ascent to the top of the tight end draft boards with another huge game. Gronkowski hauled in 5 receptions for 54 yards plus 3 TD’s (1 rushing) for 29 fantasy points in PPR leagues. He is so fun to own in fantasy play, he is like owning Gates only its way better!

Pierre Garcon- The King of garbage time managed to inflict a huge amount of damage on the Patriots secondary with the game out of reach but if you started him you were rewarded with a monster stat line. Garcon finished the day with 9 catches for 150 yards and 2 TD’s for 36 fantasy points.

Percy Harvin- My man Percy finally exploded for some overdue production and rewarded patient owners with his best score of the year.  He had 8 catches for 156 yards 2 TD’s and 35 fantasy points. Christian Ponder looked real comfortable out there and shredded the Broncos defense for 380 plus yards but was outshined by the nation known as Tebow.

Chris Johnson- CJNOK has officially graduated to CJ1K with his second monster performance in as many weeks, he is now paced to crack 1000 yards. Johnson finished his day in Buffalo with 23 carries for 153 yards, 2 TD’s and 27 fantasy points. If his slow start didn’t bury your fantasy team and you are still in the hunt for a playoff spot these last two performances have certainly helped your cause.

Ray Rice- Ray Rice was killing it today and between him and his backup Ricky Williams they eclipsed 300 yards on the ground. Rice rushed the ball 29 times for 204 yards, 1 TD, 2 receptions and 29 fantasy points.

Aaron Rodgers- The man in green is the best machine in the NFL, flash the belt, do a Lambeau leap whatever your bend happens to be but my god if you are a Rodgers owner you don’t have an excuse for not making your fantasy playoffs. In a slugfest today he traded blows with Eli Manning until the last minute of the game where it took him all of 14 seconds to get his boys into field goal range. He finished his day with 399 total yards of offense with 4 TD’s, 1 int and 39 points.

Bad

Michael Turner- The Burner was questionable coming into this game and if you started him you are kicking yourself for the lousy 4 fantasy points he left you with.

Michael Bush- The wild Bush show came to a screaming halt in Miami as the Raiders were smashed up and down the field. Michael Bush was bottled up for 18 yards rushing and 27 yards receiving for a standard league score of 3 points. If you needed a big game out of him to make a playoff push I feel for you this evening, it will probably be a tall order.

Joe Flacco- It was the Ray Rice and the amazing ground attack this afternoon so something had to give in Baltimore and it came in the form of Flacco’s production.  He finished his day with 158 yards and zero TD’s for a disappointing 6 fantasy points.

Matt Hasselbeck- The Titans got it done in the win column and that is priority one for the veteran QB, but if you had to count on him for some fantasy gold you were let down with a double bogey. Hasselbeck handed off to CJ1K for most of the game and only managed 140 yards without a TD for 6 under whelming points.

Ugly

Caleb Hanie- So apparently Caleb Hanie is not the next Tom Brady… who knew? Hanie did his best Tyler Palko impression by not moving the ball in the right direction. Hanie finished the day 11 for 24, with 133 pass yards, 0 TD’s and 3 big interceptions. If his -1 was his score after 9 holes of golf, I would be impressed but the fact that was his fantasy score you have to hang your head if you had the stones to start him.

Steven Jackson- S-Jax has been on a steady decline this season but he has officially hit rock bottom after his performance today against the sizzling 49ers. Jackson rushed 11 times for 19 yards and chipped in 11 yards from a single catch for a grand total of 3 fantasy points. That is not going to get it done ladies and gents but thanks for coming out!

LeGarette Blount- Blount went from being a “must start” this week to a “must sit” once it was announced that Josh Freeman wasn’t going to be able to play. I hope you were able to get him out of your lineups in time for a better option because Blount was invisible out there. He finished his day with 11 carries for 19 yards and 1 fantasy point, so much for the “start of the week”.

Matt Forte- It has gone from bad in Chicago to downright ugly, first they lose Cutler for the season and now they lose the man responsible for 60% of their offense. Forte injured his knee and will be out anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. He had 12 yards on the ground before he was knocked out of the game, 1 point from your first round pick… I feel your pain.

DeMarco Murray- The Cowboys could not get it done in Arizona and Murray never found a rhythm, hell I am not sure if he had a pulse today.  Murray carried the rock 12 times but only managed 38 yards and finished with a deflating 3 points.
