Catcher - Johnathan Lucroy (Brewers)
Lucroy has gone 7 for 17 (.412) with three RBI over his last four games. He has seven homers and 39 RBI with a 284 batting average on the year, which gives him plenty of Fantasy value. Lucroy has power potential hitting over 20 homers in one season while in minor leagues. Good as a backup catcher in standard mixed leagues and a starter in deeper. Owned in 38 percent of leagues.
1st Base - Edwin Encarnarcion (Blue Jays)
Encarnacion has a six-game hitting streak since play resumed after the All-Star break, and he has 10 total hits in the span. He had seven hits in a three-game span heading into the Midsummer Classic, so he has been able to up his average over 30 points since July 6 on the way to its current .271 mark. Fantasy owners should consider taking a low-end flier on Encarnacion while he's swinging the bat this well. Has eligibility as 1st and 3rd. Owned in 17 percent of leagues
2nd Base - Gordon Beckham (White Sox)
Beckham has always been a better second-half hitter with a .314 average. From the middle of June last year till the beginning of August. His average went up nearly 70 points. He’s hitting 348 since the all-star break with 3 runs, 5 ribbies and one stolen base. White Sox batters tend to do better in the second half as a whole. Owned in 46 percent of leagues
3rd Base - Willie Bloomquist (D’Backs)
With Drew out for the season, Willie will be the benefactor. Has great speed, solid defensively, multi-positional eligibility at 3rd, SS, and OF. He is prone to very solid hot streaks. Batting 271 on the season and will help in runs and sb categories. Owned in 9 percent of leagues
Shortstop - Jeff Keppinger (Giants)
Keppinger likes hitting in AT&T Park where he has a .340 average. Keppinger is particularly effective against left-handers, producing a 1.137 on-base-plus-slugging percentage and is batting .307 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 43 games this season since his return from foot surgery. Doesn’t walk or strike a lot. Eligibility and 2nd and SS. Owned in 10 percent of leagues
Outfield - Josh Reddick (Red Sox)
Reddick is batting .378 with a .432 OBP, .671 slugging mark and 1.102 OPS along with four homers and 13 extra-base hits in 29 games this season. Will be starter until he shows signs of struggle then Drew will be put back in. The hype could by Epstein and Francona they may be using as a ploy to get Beltran. Owned in 10 percent of leagues.
Starting Pitcher - Mark Buerhle (White Sox)
Buerhle has not given up more than 3 runs since April 22. Once Sox offense heats up the wins will rack up. Buerhle is posting a 2.30 ERA over his last four starts -- all no-decisions. Owned in 25 percent of leagues.
Closer - Jason Isringhausen (Mets)
Clearly the #1 option to close for the time being and has been solid this season, and he hasn't yielded a run in six straight games since July 3. Had his 3rd save in the past 5 days with a two inning scoreless outing resulting in a win sandwiched in between. Owned in 24 percent of leagues.
