Baseball - Injury Report

The start of the season has been pretty bad for closers. Led by Andrew Bailey (BOS) who is out for 3-4 months with a thumb injury. Luckily they have Aceves and Melancon to hold down that spot for him until he comes back --um, nevermind. Could it be Daniel Bard next to give it a shot?  Here are some other notable names who hit the DL before the season started.

Kyle Farnsworth (TB - Elbow) - Farnsworth is out 4-6 weeks with an elbow injury. He should be back to his primary closer role since I do not see guys like Joel Peralta, Fernando Rodney, or J.P. Howell taking the closer role and running with it.

Drew Storen (WAS - Elbow) - Another closer with an injured elbow. However, Storen's injury seems to be worse than Farnsworth with the news late afternoon that he is visting Dr. James Andrew. I don't know about you but when I hear any of my players visting the world renown Dr. Andrews I just cringe. Heres hoping Storen gets some good news but pick up Brad Lidge and/or Henry Rodriguez just in case Storen ges some bad news.

These injuries prove one thing and that is you never pay for saves. You can always pick up closers during the season and this start of the season validates this point.
