With the shocking trade of McNabb to the Redskins in April, the Redskins finally have a true franchise qb for the first time since the days of Thiesmann. McNabb instantly becomes the team’s best offensive weapon. I see McNabb as a solid number 2 qb in leagues that employ a 2 qb system. Otherwise, he is nothing more than a matchup play/bye week qb, unless the Redskins offense shows some consistency.
As fantasy drafts are going on and coming up, we here at Fantasy Daddy will do series of "Sleepers and Nightmares" for each position.
Here is the running back edition, and I'll start with the sleepers.
Sleepers
Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers- With QB Ben Roethlisberger suspended for the first four games of the season (most likely), the Steelers are almost certain to lean on the ground game with Byron Leftwich likely under center. Mendenhall should get plenty of work during September, and should be the Steelers' primary ball carrier all season. Look for him to improve on his 2009 numbers (1,108 rushing yards, seven touchdowns) this season.
San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Preview
QB – Alex Smith
Once the ultra-conservative 49ers opened the playbook Smith started to show the promise of being a former number one draft pick. He threw 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in the final seven weeks, after taking the spot from Shaun Hill. With the arrival of Vernon Davis as an elite tight end and the arrival of Michael Crabtree, Smith should be able to improve slightly which makes him a high-upside number 2 quarterback.
Minnesota Vikings Fantasy Preview

QB – Brett Favre
The old gunslinger proved at 40 years old he still had something left in the tank. Always known for his interceptions he threw a career low seven last year to go with a career high in pass completion percentage. As far as to what to expect this season expect his touchdown total to be around 30, and his interceptions in the 10-15 range. He is still a top 10 fantasy quarterback, and should be drafted as such. In most mocks you can see him going as early as 4th round which is a little premature, but don’t let him slip lower than the 7th round, and never bet against him, he will just prove you wrong.
